Working Radar Screen for bridge interior, construction details and video. Light source provided by two high output LEDs, screen is made from a ROSCO gel sample that has been partially sprayed with black paint and rings scratched through paint once partly dry

The screen will be linked directly to the radar drive motor so both radar scanner and monitor will operate in sync.

Component parts from front to back, clear perspex front screen, radar acetate mounted onto a central drive wire using superglue, this wire is then feed through the diffuser lens, made from frosted perspex, and finally through the ABS end cap which will be glued to the back of the cylindrical radar screen housing. Florescent perspex rods are set into the frosted perspex diffuser to indicate vessels when the radar screen rotates.

Carefully trim the acetate gel into a circle that fits inside the radar screen housing

When paint is dry, but still soft, use a circle template and scriber to lightly scratch through the paint surface to create the radar screen rings

Stage 1 mask with frog tape and lightly dust a graduated black spray paint

Probably the most difficult part of the whole build is now completed, cutting the window apertures on both the outer and inner skins in order coloured acetate can be slipped in between for the tinted windows, phew!

Norne Hull detailing added. Although the same class of tug the Norne's hull is slightly curved whilst the Slipway Dutch Courage's is flatter.

Will be interesting to see how this addition effects the models handling in the water.

Just back from the 2013 Intermodellbau Exhibition in Messen, Dortmond, Germany, (EASYJET from Luton Airport). Absolutely amazing exhibition, way too much to see in one day!!

Bought a few nice goodies for the tug, a dingy which I've painted up as diver support, adding scratch built outboard, diver buoy and spare oxygen tanks.

Also I found the welder figure which when wired up will simulate arc welding with an ultra bright intermittent flashing LED
